Air Cargo 2010

East Coast Air Charter had, like many of you, plans to attend last week's AirCargo 2010 Conference in Orlando. Good news: we were busy moving freight for our customers! Not so good news: our CEO Bill McBane was so focused on working with our customers, he didn't make it down to the conference. So if you were like us and missed attending, we have some more good news: here's a quick hit update from Brandon Fried, executive director of Airforwarders Association, who put on the conference.

From Brandon:

"If you missed last week's conference, you missed over 800 industry participants networking and learning about:
  • How to do business with the government
  • The secrets of Travelocity's success and how they can impact the air cargo industry
  • Regulatory compliance
  • The new TSA Indirect Air Carrier Security Program change information
  • How to harness social media to make your air cargo business more successful

If you were able to attend. Let us know what you felt was most valuable from the conference and we look forward to seeing you at the next event!

A Charter full of Chicks

From time to time we get some unconventional calls to charter wedding cakes or heart valves or BABY CHICKS! These provide additional fun because they are so unique!

A few years ago, we received a phone call from a local hatchery needing to charter baby chicks! The chicks were packaged as 300 cartons, 24x19x7 inches, 3000 pounds total. Each box had 100 baby chicks in it. Once we secured a DC3 aircraft we jumped at the opportunity and even helped with loading. The chicks are like little balls of heat and sometimes die due to excessive heat. Luckily it was a cool evening and no fatalities occurred.

All air charters are unique and each of our customers needs is handled with the same enthusiasm as with the chicks charter. We all enjoy the reward of helping to fulfill our customer's needs, whether it is transporting baby chicks or rushing brake parts to a waiting assembly line!

Welcome!

We are Bill and Lisa McBane co-founders of East Coast Air Charter, Inc. Aviation has been a part of both of our lives since we were children. In 1991, Bill went to work for a small charter company with the intent of gaining experience as a commercial pilot and then working his way up to fly for the airlines. He started with the company as an entry-level dispatcher, and soon grew to enjoy the operations side of air charter. The satisfaction of helping a customer in need was more rewarding than the long nights away from home. With the encouragement of Bill's former employer, Lisa and Bill opened the doors to East Coast Air Charter in 1997. East Coast Air Charter, Inc. is a full service, on demand air charter management company specializing in the transportation of time critical freight. East Coast Air Charter serves a variety of customers throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and worldwide. We provide door to door service and operate around the clock!
